One of Ilfracombe’s hidden gems. St James’ Tea Room exudes peace, tranquility and calm. If you’re looking for a ‘proper’ cream tea, this is the place to be. Very highly recommended, my wife and I visited several times throughout our stay.

We had a lovely afternoon at St James tea rooms with Darren & Matt to celebrate as a group of 12 for two birthdays and a celebration of life, a wonderful relaxed and friendly venue where nothing was too much trouble, it felt like they were part of our group and went above and beyond, the food was fantastic, tasty and fresh, the scones the best taste and texture and the chocolate mousse cups as the finale, a truly thoughtful touch, wonderful hosts, food and atmosphere, we will be back, no doubt about that. Thank you ❤️

Came in yesterday what lovely and kind owners enjoyed sitting outside. The scones we had with our cream teas, we found out were freshly made by owner in the morning. Even brought a biscuits out for the dog which she enjoyed alot. Would highly recommend this cafe as it has some lovely food and lovely people working there.

Have been visiting this tea room since dinosaurs were a thing. At least that’s how long it seems 😆. It has become a tradition to always have at least 1 cream tea from here on every holiday in North Devon. This year we arrived just weeks after the long standing previous lovely owners had retired. Which was a shame but expected and we hope they have a fabulous well deserved retirement. Extremely pleased to be able to say the new owners have taken over and kept Everything as was - very friendly and still producing the same level of quality food and service. We visited twice within the same week for more of those freshly baked scones and fresh sandwiches.

For some reason Google wont let me respond. Here is the response to Yvonne's Review.........from the owner of the tea room (see Below) Yvonne..... That's not true is it, You were not happy the minute we told you we had ran out of paninis, With your sandwich it come with a salad garnish and a few crisps, if you wanted a full salad and a bag of crisps with it perhaps that's what you should of bought. In regards to being over priced you knew the price before you came in so why did you? I will pass your comments onto the local baker who bakes all of our bread fresh for us and I'm not sure how a milky coffee can be watery but there we go.

Delighted with a lovely cream tea. Excellent value, delicious home made fruit scone. We'll worth a visit. We also saw a spectacular afternoon tea being served. The jacket potatoes looking good too. The staff made us feel welcome and we'll looked after.

Great experience. Went in to have brunch whilst waiting for the bus. Quite busy as some people are in queue, and indeed this is one of the best tea rooms in Devon and maybe England. The homemade scones and clotted cream were perfect. Lovely place as you are surrounded lush green vines over your head and colourful flowers on your side. Very instagrammable and would highly recommend.

Fantastic scones and tea. Huge scones almost too much but accompanied with just the right amount of cream and jam. Will definitely come back again if we ever come back to Ilfracombe
